How We Approach Academics

Our mission is to engage in intentional formation of ecclesial personhood in a community of prayer. For too long, the disciplines of academic theology have seemed to many to be divorced from the "real life" of the individual Christian and of the Church. That's not the case at Bexley Hall. Intentional Christian formation in community means that we engage the Bible, the classical Christian texts and the evolving tradition with spiritual reflection on their meaning and relevance for today's Church.

Wrestling with God at Bexley Hall

At Bexley, we are not content to hand down dogma. We expect each member of the community to wrestle with the issues and questions that arise from the challenge of living faithfully to tradition in an ever-changing world. We enjoy vigorous conversation and debate which challenges us intellectually and spiritually.

Our ecumenical contexts help us to articulate our Anglican understandings of the Christian faith and to appreciate and honor the differing perspectives we encounter.
