About Columbus, Ohio

It's All Within Reach
Our seminary is nestled in the quiet, picturesque, neighborhood of Bexley, Ohio (pop. 13,000). Mostly residental, Bexley has a charming Main Street, with restaurants, two coffee shops, three ice cream parlors, several banks, an arts cinema theatre, and a connection to the metropolitan bicycle trail system, all within easy walking distance of the seminary. Bexley is also home to one of the highest performing public school districts in Ohio.
Bexley is an inner-ring suburb of Columbus (pop. 750,000), the 15th largest city in the United States. Both Bexley and Columbus are in Franklin County (pop. 1,130,000). None of these statistics, however, paints a good picture of Columbus; a midwestern city with friendly people, reasonable costs of living, and a hundred other points of interest that will always give you something to do and see.
Just down the street is Capital University, where Bexley Hall and Trinity Lutheran Seminary students have library privileges and free access to the Capital Athletic Center. The athletic center is equipped with an indoor track, cardio equipment (elliptical machines, treadmills, bicycles, and stair climbers), and a full weight room.
The Ohio State University, one of the largest in the country, is located in Columbus. The State Library of Ohio, the Ohio Historical Society library, and the libraries of The Ohio State University, are also available, in addition to the libraries of the Columbus Theological Consortium: Trinity/Bexley Hall, the Pontifical Josephinum Seminary, and Methesco (United Methodist). We also participate in OhioLink, which networks most major research collections in the state.
Shared Facilities
Bexley shares its campus with Trinity Lutheran Seminary. The campus includes:- Gloria Dei Worship Center, the center of campus life. Built in a contemporary style, this large chapel illustrates the best of modern church architecture. The accent is on the People of God as Eucharistic Assembly. With movable furnishings, Gloria Dei can be transformed into a concert hall or an auditorium for community activities. The custom-built Steiner-Reck pipe organ enhances worship through superior musical accompaniment;
- St. Helena Chapel in the Bexley House. Furnished in the richly colored Gothic Revival style, the emphasis here is on the transcendence and sacrifice of the Eucharist, although the setting is intimate;
- Koinonia Center for fellowship, meals and gatherings;
- Steeple People bookstore;
- Library and media center containing over 126,000 books and bound periodicals and over 4,500 audio-visuals, adding approximately 250 items monthly;
- Well-equipped classroom facilities;
- Living space for single and married students: dormitory efficiencies, apartments, and townhouses are available.
Getting Here, Getting Around
Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) buses pass the seminary twice hourly, seven days a week and Port Columbus International Airport is three miles away. Interstate Highways 70 and 71 intersect within three miles of the campus.
